a milestone diary of roos second year

sweet and happy like a daisy

this was our second year having our lives totally enriched by you - rua alma

ONE YEAR AND ONE MONTH (MAY)

your first tooth finally popped up on the bottom row on 15th may

you are a D A N C E R

you stand at the bottom of the stairs, cling onto the stair gate and shout “DAAA” at the top of your voice

not your dads biggest fan…. constantly gravitating towards mama

One year and two months (June)

four pegs now

falling asleep to ‘say hello to the sun’ (on repeat)

you find your big sister HILARIOUS

you love to beg for your third dinner from your mama and papa when they have theirs (which is about the only time you favour dada over me)

the stairgate is broken and when you get the opportunity you are up the stairs in a flash!

One yEAR AND three months (july)

figured out you can scream

walking by yourself but you are too self conscious to do it in nursery or at nannies

terrible wake ups in the evenings

grinding your four pegs which drives your mama up the wall but you love to brush your teeth which makes up for it in cute-ness

you go to nursery without tears and have charmed them all (they only have the nicest things to say about you)

you wave bye bye

One year and four months (August)

walking everywhere

saying ‘hiya’ and ‘bye bye’ to everyone

said ‘marlow’ for the first time

getting fussier with food, unless its on your dads plate

copying dad whatever he does, including rubbing your hands together after meals

you ADORE pushing the pram

and you pat the baby dolls on their back oh so sweetly

put yourself to sleep at night when it was a daddy put down a few times this month

One year and five months (September)

you are your mamas best friend

first vomiting bug

you are warning up to your daddy, especially when he tussels or has food!

rua you are so greedy!

YOUR LAUGH! all the time! and that funny ‘pouty lip face’ you keep doing at us

One YEAR AND six months (October)

starting to really love your ‘dada’ and your face lights up when you see him. you like to climb up him like a mountain

you can understand almost everything we say to you at this age, and will happily follow instruction and respond with the sweetest, most emphatic ‘YEAH’

suddenly you hate when we put you down at night… and have also developed a dislike for your carseat (we have to coax you into it)

the MOLARS are coming!

you potter into nursery without looking back, often clinging onto your dolly (who you love to bring out on adventures)

you are still the sweetest, smiliest lil peach. you have the most beautiful disposition darling girl

you tidy up after yourself, take your plates into the kitchen when you are done and try and help with the laundry

One year and seven months (November)

still waiting for one very naughty molar which needs to catch up with the other three (bottom left)

still pottering into nursery without turning back to say goodbye

love to wear everyone else’s shoes (including your mamas and will happily plod around the living room with my birkenstocks on)

you also love wearing your sisters coats

your favourite toys remain the three maileg buns and teaset to this day

finding your voice

could eat yogurt until it comes out of your ears

the first thing you do when you see your dad is ask him to pick you up and take you to the treat cabinet

DANCING!

finally sleeping better through the evenings

One year and eight months (December)

two new teeth

the most ill you have been yet with a sore throat and high temperatures, poor little dear you have been in the sling constantly

had your first temper tantrum in nursery and took them all by surprise

still the smiliest sweetest lil peach who loves to BOP to music as soon as you hear a beat

a whole pile of new words including ‘peppa’, and ‘noddy’

want everything your sister has

the way you shuffle backwards to sit on our knee, bring books to us and demand we read them

One year and nine months (January)

every time we open the fridge you are somehow there

still obsessed with yogi

and ‘pepp-a’

can sing ‘row row your boat’ and count to five

our stairgate broke again and you are up the stairs in a flash

One year and ten months (February)

you like to sit in the garden chair like your sister… you just need a little assistance getting in and out of it

if your sister eats tea at the table you want to join her… if she eats tea in front of the TV, you want to do that too… basically whatever your sister does you want to do the same

you LOVE watching nightmare before christmas, pointing to it on the screen - you can watch the whole thing start to finish and demand us to put it back on when it ends

you went up into your big sisters car seat

will contentedly play by yourself for the longest time

adore cuddles with your valentine bunny

you are so musical, you can repeat songs youve heard repeatedly (like the button on marlows elsa barbie) and you still enjoy dancing

even when you are unwell you are always so good natured and pleasant

coming DOWN the stairs is your newest challenge

One yEAR AND eleven months (March)

we had to hide the fruit because you went through a crazy phase of asking for fruit, taking one bite and moving on

peppa obsessed, fond of noddy and the way you say ‘post-man pat’ is so sweet

you have hollow legs

constantly cleaning up after yourself and putting things in the sink or ‘bin’ as you call it… you stand on tip toes and cautiously tip it over the edge because you cant reach

you like to go to bed and when its bedtime you will say ‘bed’ and urge me to take you up the stairs

Two years young!

you blow on dandelions and say “MORE” when the seeds have flown away

(you also do this with ‘yogi’)

the sweet way you say “tank-yoo”

if we havent nursed in a while you will do a happy laugh and excited dance with your hands when i sit to feed you

love nutella spoons just like your big sister

you call your keyworker verity ‘dirrty’

adored all the attention on your birthday you were in the BEST mood

forever our cheery girl
