photo booth christmas card
Last year was our very first year with our baby girl Marlow Autumn and the first year of our now annual family Christmas card. These are great fun to make in the run up to Christmas and I think friends and family really appreciate receiving homemade cards. So here's how to spread your own little bit of family cheer. Happy Christmas.
What to do
Get each member of the family to stand in front of a white wall and make faces for you in rapid succession each time snapping a photo of them. You can just take selfies for your own photos or get your partner to take them. With a three month old baby - Ryan held her up and we both became entertaining clowns to capture a smile and some different expressions. We didn't waste too much time though as babies don't always do what you want and of course we had someplace better to be.
Choose three photos of each person and edit them into black and white (I used ‘Lightroom’ to do this. You can download and use the app for free).
I then downloaded a collage app (the one I used was called 'Collage Maker' but there are tonnes of free options out there). Organise your photos into the order you would like them to appear and then save the collage photograph to your phone.
Print a batch of photos using the Snapfish app. I printed them in 4” x 4” and with a matt finish as I think it looks more professional.
Wait impatiently for your photographs to arrive.
When aforementioned photographs rocket through your letterbox, assemble each of them onto the centre of a piece of folded black card and affix with a little strip of white washi tape. If you are using an A4 sheet of black card, cut it in half and then fold each of those pieces in half to make two cards.
Stamp off some festive phrases such as - 'Happy new year' 'Merry Christmas 2020’ or ‘Joy to the world’ with your label maker and affix these on top of the white washi tape.
I used our label maker to write out messages inside the card but you could also use a gold or silver pen.
You will need
Washi tape - white
A label maker (I use the Dymo label maker)
Black card
A guillotine or scissors to cut your black card to size (if not using pre-folded cards)
Envelopes
Props such a Santa hat (optional)
Access to a photo editing app such as Lightroom and a collage app
Snapfish to print your photos
