bittersweet
Two years and a month (october)
your personality is shining through,; you are becoming braver, do silly voices and pull funny faces
you say ‘mine’ all the time, but you are very good at sharing
you have started to push the boundaries of what is allowed but in a very innocent way
starting to count and recognise colours
your sweetest comfort is pinching at our neck, and when you want access you say ‘daddy pinch’ ‘mummy pinch’... (depending on your victim of choice). our poor necks
Two years and two months (november)
following the leader
you love getting in the bath with bath bombs
singing your own nursery rhymes
a love of fireworks!
Two years and three months (december)
sleeping with your bum in the air
falling out of bed every single night. you have also moved up into a ‘big girl bed’ this month and still dislike being covered by a ‘blankie’
such strong attachments to people - you hate saying goodbye
growing independence as you become less reliant on your mama and papa
you love shouting “BAAAAAA” and “MOOOOOO” at the top of your lungs (especially when you are supposed to be quiet!)
obsessed with “I-AM-A-ROBOT” - your favourite 'bit' by your comedian father
you love to unwrap presents
Two years and four months (January)
everything is a little bit or very… ‘it’s very dark’
excitement when you glimpse the moon
when you want to do something yourself without help, you loudly exclaim ‘i do it’ (such as taking off your own shoes, scarf, hat and gloves)
you tell us repeatedly every day, ‘i don’t like this house… i like nama and grandad's house’
your favourite toys are cars, elsa, your wooden animals and your christmas dollshouse. you can play independently for hours now and i love watching you
sometimes you smack us, but then immediately kiss us better (usually)
daddy's hand built sofa caves make you very happy
Two years and Five months (february)
you love elsa's ‘black shoes’ which fall off every five minutes and drive us mad searching for them
i need to remember how you call ‘chick hicks’ - “chicken” because it will forever make me smile
we named your peggy brush ‘greenie’
you have become a little scared of going into dark rooms by yourself, or going into the room when the dryer is running (on that note you also still get upset if your mama hoovers and there are toys on the floor…)
hairclips and ponytails in nursery are your fav
you no longer nap in the day
the most helpful helper, who loves to stir your own dinner on the stove, and undress yourself when we come home from a walk
floppy bunny has replaced mucky bear
two years and six months (march)
occasionally you take a half an hour nap again in the day
we MOVED house, and you are telling everyone about it. you even get sad when i say we are going home because you want to go to the “new house”
you demand “treat” (and you don't really know what it is, but you know it is good)
still got a foot phobia
still adore the colour red
when encanto was released you suddenly started to notice all the cracks in everyone's house
you always ask to go up into our fancy loft room
when daddy reads your story book at night you can finish off the sentences for most of your favourites
Two years and seven months (april)
you keep asking us to ‘cry’ and enjoy it when we pretend to be sad
you could eat ALL the soreen right now
that love for the colour red has expanded to include pink, purple, yellow, blue… the list sort of changes every day and you point out colour e v e r y w h e r e
you like to hold your foods and drinks up to mummy's belly button to offer some to the baby
sharing is not your favourite this month

and we are oh so proud that you learnt how to use the potty this month
you never want to leave the “new house”
two years and eight months (may)
you have been an INCREDIBLE doting big sister, squeezing and kissing rua without an ounce of jealousy at all
you are loving your daddy so much right now, you say “daddy…<can i watch tv> daddy?” all the time
everything is still “i need”
jelly snakes
you can articulate yourself so well
when you wake in the night now you often wander into our bedroom (sometimes you cry out in the night too with nightmares poor thing)
you often say please and thank you… “please can my have…”
and also… you use negatives when you want something... “daddy? my cant have a lollipop?… i dont want a lollipop” (but really you totally do!)
you are 2.0 stone - all the more for us to snuggle
two years and nine months (june)
obsessed with MARSHMALLOWS
you like to wind up mummy and daddy by threatening your baby sister when you'd like some attention… but you also love her to bits and sometimes i worry you are going to smother her with your kisses!
you are so patient and adaptable marlow.. in the past couple of months you have thrived despite a new room at nursery, a new home, a new big girl bed, new baby sister and mastering the potty! what a superstar!
you told a couple of porky pies at nursery
you love to help me get nappies for rua to change her bum, or help me clean the kitchen and water the plants
using pull up big girl nappies now overnight
constantly lining up cars
a super appetite this month
youve learnt how to draw lines and i must say they are magnificent
started swimming lessons - our lil’ mermaid
two years and ten months (july)
its been quite the month for losing your head, so many big changes recently we completely understand, but you can go from one to a hundred in 0.001 seconds
you keep telling us to buy a new car (in red of course) and picking out the red cars you approve of on our street
super protective over your baby sister
working on sharing with playdates
humming songs and singing to yourself, including your own version of the alphabet … ‘double your knee’
you love to read
youve memorised all the words for the ‘hush bunny’ book
mr and mrs worm
falling out of bed and finding you curled up in the strangest positions on the floor
two years and eleven months (august)
our red tomato harvester!
you love to read ‘the dark’ with your daddy before bed
occasionally sleeping through the night, and you are so proud of yourself. each morning you wake and say, ‘i slept on my own’ (even when it isnt entirely accurate)
working on being brave
still love painting and your masterpieces come out in stunning shades of red
‘make a garage’
you constantly want to hide
nutella is our answer for everything…. when youve hurt yourself or if we are bribing you for good behaviour (this is your treat of choice)
you like to request nutella pancakes on the weekend
(apparently crusts dont appeal to you and you insist that we cut them off sandwiches and toast)

three years young
you are so maternal and love to mother your doll and (attempt) to pick up your baby sister frequently
you can draw a FACE!
wanting to stay home and ‘play’
finallllly you adore the disney princesses and i can happily spend hours explaining the movies to you as we watch…. i dont even mind that you constantly chirp in my ear: ‘whats happening now?’
on a sidenote you have a morbid curiosity for all the ‘bad things’ that happen to the princesses…
looking so grown up in your pre-prep uniform
love to bounce and throw yourself around our couch
you were surprisingly nervous around sirius the dog
and you can be shy in big groups
.. but marlow autumn jones you are so sweet and kind and watching you turn three surrounded by so many friends who love you was m-a-g-i-c
