a milestone diary of marlow’s third year

bittersweet

Two years and a month (october)

your personality is shining through,; you are becoming braver, do silly voices and pull funny faces

you say ‘mine’ all the time, but you are very good at sharing

you have started to push the boundaries of what is allowed but in a very innocent way

starting to count and recognise colours

your sweetest comfort is pinching at our neck, and when you want access you say ‘daddy pinch’ ‘mummy pinch’... (depending on your victim of choice). our poor necks

Two years and two months (november)

following the leader

you love getting in the bath with bath bombs

singing your own nursery rhymes

a love of fireworks!

Two years and three months (december)

sleeping with your bum in the air

falling out of bed every single night. you have also moved up into a ‘big girl bed’ this month and still dislike being covered by a ‘blankie’

such strong attachments to people - you hate saying goodbye

growing independence as you become less reliant on your mama and papa

you love shouting “BAAAAAA” and “MOOOOOO” at the top of your lungs (especially when you are supposed to be quiet!)

obsessed with “I-AM-A-ROBOT” - your favourite 'bit' by your comedian father

you love to unwrap presents

Two years and four months (January)

everything is a little bit or very… ‘it’s very dark’

excitement when you glimpse the moon

when you want to do something yourself without help, you loudly exclaim ‘i do it’ (such as taking off your own shoes, scarf, hat and gloves)

you tell us repeatedly every day, ‘i don’t like this house… i like nama and grandad's house’

your favourite toys are cars, elsa, your wooden animals and your christmas dollshouse. you can play independently for hours now and i love watching you

sometimes you smack us, but then immediately kiss us better (usually)

daddy's hand built sofa caves make you very happy

Two years and Five months (february)

you love elsa's ‘black shoes’ which fall off every five minutes and drive us mad searching for them

i need to remember how you call ‘chick hicks’ - “chicken” because it will forever make me smile

we named your peggy brush ‘greenie’

you have become a little scared of going into dark rooms by yourself, or going into the room when the dryer is running (on that note you also still get upset if your mama hoovers and there are toys on the floor…)

hairclips and ponytails in nursery are your fav

you no longer nap in the day

you demand “treat” (and you don't really know what it is, but you know it is good)

still got a foot phobia

still adore the colour red

when encanto was released you suddenly started to notice all the cracks in everyone's house

you always ask to go up into our fancy loft room

Two years and seven months (april)

you keep asking us to ‘cry’ and enjoy it when we pretend to be sad

you could eat ALL the soreen right now

that love for the colour red has expanded to include pink, purple, yellow, blue… the list sort of changes every day and you point out colour e v e r y w h e r e

sharing is not your favourite this month

“i NEED <insert item you definitely don’t need>

and we are oh so proud that you learnt how to use the potty this month

you never want to leave the “new house”

two years and eight months (may)

you are loving your daddy so much right now, you say “daddy…<can i watch tv> daddy?” all the time

everything is still “i need”

jelly snakes

you can articulate yourself so well

when you wake in the night now you often wander into our bedroom (sometimes you cry out in the night too with nightmares poor thing)

you often say please and thank you… “please can my have…”

you are 2.0 stone - all the more for us to snuggle

two years and nine months (june)

obsessed with MARSHMALLOWS

you like to wind up mummy and daddy by threatening your baby sister when you'd like some attention… but you also love her to bits and sometimes i worry you are going to smother her with your kisses!

you are so patient and adaptable marlow.. in the past couple of months you have thrived despite a new room at nursery, a new home, a new big girl bed, new baby sister and mastering the potty! what a superstar!
