an easter adventure
I love the idea of putting together an Easter basket each year for our daughter, and mixing up the contents with age appropriate gifts and activities to reflect her current interests. Plus there is the added bonus of collecting new baskets each year… because let's face it you can never have too many baskets! I put together her first basket last year and although she was only 18 months old at the time, her personality and character was already shining through so bright and I was able to think of a few things she LOVED to make her basket extra special.
‘Piki Nesting baskets’ from Olli Ella - £69.90.
Basket contents from last year
An Easter storybook. I opted for Hungry Bunny by Claudia Rueda.
I had bought a 'Little Miss Tippy Toes' soft rabbit the Easter I was pregnant with Marlow (call that good preparation if you will). Each doll is one of a kind and so beautifully made, I kept it hidden until she was old enough to appreciate it.
Surprise inside wooden nesting eggs. I managed to find some from a seller on Etsy (see here).
A dozen wooden birds eggs. These are beautifully German made wooden eggs and I couldn't resist as Marlow was so obsessed with the larger wooden ones in her market stall from Le Toy Van.
Little sack of chocolates to hide around the house. I embroidery her initial on a re-purposed cotton bag to collect them in.
Handmade felt carrots.
Sunglasses - we went for the sustainably made Grech & co Burlwood sunglasses which we picked up from ‘Dawn and Day’. She loves to put on my sunnies and we laugh at one another in the mirror, so I thought it was time she had a pair to fit her face properly and protect her from all the bright sunshine we had over the coming months.
An Easter outfit from ‘Little Cotton Clothes’.
A wooden animal to add to her collection - a squirrel in light of how excited she gets each time one crosses our path. The Ostheimer and Holztiger wooden toys are beautifully crafted and widely available.
A ‘Candylab Toys’ ice cream truck to feed her enthusiasm for vehicles! These are also widely available and offer a gamut of unusual and iconic wooden cars to choose from.
We celebrated with a morning of play - exploring the treasures she had received and an afternoon spent at her ‘teddy bears picnic’ indoors laden with cakes, butties, juice and other delicious goodies.
I’d love to hear how you celebrate Easter with your little ones, and great ideas for basket-fillers. Please feel free to share and comment below. I look forward to hearing from you. Happy Easter.
