easter baskets with love
the basket i put together for easter this year was heavily educational, thrifted and handmade and it made her smile… particularly the grubby handmade felt potato people id brought to life for the occasion
we put together our first easter basket last year and since then ive seen the tradition grow in popularity, which in turn can really hike up the pressure parents feel to ‘keep up’. i think it is easy to forget that our children dont expect anything and would be happy no matter how we celebrate or what we spend. on that note everything i popped into our baskets was carefully thought out to be useful and last rather than simply filling the basket with “fillers” to later throw away
these are the bits that made the cut
marlows spring basket contained
handmade felt potatoes
a vintage doll we thrifted for £3 whom i transformed with a new dress using fabrics and threads i had at home (and a little tlc of course)
something soft from cuddle and kind
the usborne easter magic painting book (we adore these books in our house, they make for wonderful cafe and restaurant activities to entertain little ones, and are pretty therapeutic as an adult too!)
an easter story; this year i bought ‘woodland painting party, a pop up book’ by nicole yen
wooden phonics plaques from the little coach house (temporarily closed and picked up in their closing sale)
a vintage thrifted pall mall plate featuring a teddy bears picnic
a pretty dress for the occasion from morgan and lily couture, who designs and creates the most beautiful clothing range for girls, with a welcome french touch!
the sweetest wooden animal flashcards from etsy
and printable lacing bunny activities (also from etsy)
i filled the base of the basket with decorative straw and blown out eggs our nama gave us to hang last year
and topped the whole thing off with a personalised wooden plaque from roscoe rules
little roo wasnt big enough this year to understand so i bundled her together a lamb and an outfit, tied up neatly with a little lace
