new york new york! it's a helluva town!
For Ryan’s 30th birthday we took a trip to New York at Christmas.
Top 6 things we did in New York:
1.
Walked the Brooklyn bridge. It was pouring with rain which meant we had the whole bridge to ourselves - quite romantic if you ask me!
2.
Ate New York style cheesecake in Cafe Lalo. For those of you know don’t know, this is a famous cafe from one of my family’s all time favourite movies ‘You’ve got Mail’; and their cheesecake selection would have you drooling!
3.
Ate pizza every day (Ryan’s birthday wish for NY).
Some good pizza spots we found:
Joe’s pizza in Brooklyn for a slice to keep you going.
Uncle Mario’s Brick Oven Pizza in Hell’s Kitchen. I don’t think we have ever laughed so much - that’s a story for another time. Let’s just say if we had to choose an over-crowded restaurant to eat in NY at Christmas again.. this would be the one.
4.
The National September 11th Memorial Museum.
You can easily spend a few hours here and it was well worth the time spent even though we only had a few days in New York.
5.
Watching a Liverpool match with Mr. football-obsessed in one of the only Liverpool supporters clubs in New York. The Monro, in Brooklyn.
(As we were nearby we made a trip to the Package Free Shop - and he even let me splurge on some items!)
6.
Finally as an avid bookworm, I loved browsing the bookstores in New York. My favourite was the Independent booksellers McNally Jackson. If you look carefully you will find hidden books on shelves signed by the authors - we bought a lovely children’s book called ‘Julián is a Mermaid’ by Jessica Love.
