an easy recipe for cleaning stubborn rust off stainless steel

You will need

bicarbonate of soda

warm water

white cleaning vinegar (you can buy in bulk inexpensively here)

an old toothbrush or scourer for stubborn rust

What to do

collect your rusty shaver, nail clippers, scissors or whatever else you are trying to spruce up and place them in a glass bowl

cover your items with one part warm water and one part white cleaning vinegar (i used half a cup of each)

add a couple of tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda and appreciate that satisfying FIZZ as it hits the water and starts to work on your rust

leave to soak for around an hour

then simply rinse with cold water and gently scrub any stubborn spots which persist with an old toothbrush or scourer
